What To Expect

Galleria dell'Accademia
Your guide will collect you from your centrally-located hotel and take you to the Accademia, one of the top museums in Florence and indeed the world. With reserved tickets you pass the waiting queues and head directly inside.

The museum is home to a wealth of artistic masterpieces, the most renowned however being Michelangelo’s David that is located in the main gallery. At 17ft (5.17 metres) this gigantic statue towers above everyone. It is an amazing work of art; carved from a single block of Carrara marble it was sculpted by Michelangelo in his early twenties and depicts the biblical hero David who slew the giant Goliath. You must take time to walk around the statue admiring it from every perspective to truly appreciate the genius of the artist. This unparalleled statue was unveiled in 1504 and became a symbol of the defense of civil liberties embodied by the Florentine Republic.

The Accademia also houses a number of Michelangelo’s unfinished sculptures in addition to works by Botticelli, Paolo Uccello and Andrea del Sarto, to name few.

This tour of the Accademia is a must for any visitor to Florence. In the company of your expert guide the artworks will be brought to life making the visit informative and unforgettable. Join us!
