Overview

Visit Cortona and Montepulciano in one day with ours expert local driver.
A full daytrip inside the iconic landscape of the rolling hills, avenues of cypress trees and medieval hilltop towns.
• First stop and free visit in Cortona: Cortona is a traditional walled Etruscan town. Sitting at about 600 meters above sea level, it offers spectacular views over the surrounding valley and Lake Trasimeno. Known for its beautiful square and for the Signorelli theater, it became even more famous after the film "Under The Tuscan Sun". Just outside the city we will also visit the suggestive Hermitage of San Francesco named "Le Celle".
• Second stop and free visit in Montepulciano: in this medieval city we will go to discover one ancient underground cellars, walk through tunnels dug into the tuff, under spectacular brick vaults and taste some amazing wine. At the end of the visit, you'll attend 5 wine tastings with an explanation of their basic characteristics.
• Return to Florence around 6.00 PM

What To Expect

Cortona

Our expert driver will pick you up at your location (hotel, B&B or private apartment) and take you on a journey through the rolling hills of Tuscany until Cortona. Free visit of about one hour and half .
Cortona is the main cultural and artistic center of the Val di Chiana after Arezzo. Cortona founded by the Etruscans (Original name “Curtun”) still retains many of its original remains from the Etruscan period, also Cortona encloses diferents story from characters that boasts great Renaissance artists, such as Luca Signorelli and Beato Angelico, as well as Pietro di Cortona from the Baroque period. Cortona and its countryside inspired also the famous film "Under the Tuscan Sun". Later will visit the Hermitage of San Francesco named "Le Celle":

Montepulciano

The second stop will be in Montepulciano and visit the main square and the Temple of San Biagio. You can choose where to have lunch or follow the advice of our driver.
Montepulciano is a major producer of food and drink. Renowned for its pork, cheeses, pasta called pici, lentils and honey, it is known all over the world for its excellent red wine: Nobile and Rosso di Montepulciano. Our expert driver will guide you through the incredible underground cellars, where a qualified winemaker will show you gigantic oak barrels, in which the famous Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG and Rosso di Montepulciano DOC "rest". At the end of the visit, you will participate in a tasting of the best wines with an explanation of their most important characteristics.
