Overview

We will visit the Certosa Monastery, admire monuments and churches, walk immersed in nature through rolling hills and narrow stone-paved streets, and finally arrive in the lively characteristic Oltrarno district full of artisan stores, clubs and trattorias, as well as unique monumental palaces. A tour that manages to combine great scenic beauty with art and culture for a unique memorable experience. Stops at other churches and monuments are planned during the tour but not internal visits.
Certosa tour info: The Palazzo degli Acciaiuoli, completed in the 1500s, is used as a small picture gallery and contains important works of art by leading artists such as Andrea and Giovanni della Robbia, Pontormo and Donatello. The palace's large hall now houses one of the Certosa's main attractions, the frescoes depicting episodes from the Passion of Christ created by Pontormo.

What To Expect

Certosa Di Firenze

Highly scenic and cultural experience. Starting from Porta Romana we will take public transportation to Galluzzo from where, with a short itinerary, we will reach the magnificent Certosa di Firenze, founded in the 14th century and located on the top of Monte Acuto. We will visit its interior for about an hour moving among the various buildings in the complex.
Fun fact: The Certosa del Galluzzo when viewed from the outside does not really look like an abbey but rather resembles more an ancient feudal castle, towering on a rocky spur with the Palazzo degli Studi and the monks' cells, which together form a small ideal city.
